Gift Kallisto Machengete is a Zimbabwean company executive who is currently the Director General at Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe. Dr. Machengete is also the former director of finance and administration in the Central Intelligence Organisation.

Education

Machengete is a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe, a National Intermediate Diploma in Purchasing & Supply and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Southern Cross University in Australia. He also studied for a Doctorate in Business Administration.[1]

Career

His work experience dates back from 1985 when he was employed as a Research Economist by the President’s Department up to 1991. He was appointed as the Economic Councilor at the Zimbabwe Embassy in China. In 1998 he was promoted to be the Head of Coordination and secretariat in the President’s Department. From 2001 to 2002 he was the Deputy High Commissioner at the Zimbabwe Embassy in Malaysia. Between 2002 to 2003 he was the Acting High Commissioner at the Zimbabwe High Commission in Malaysia and was Deputy Ambassador at the Zimbabwe Embassy in Malaysia from 2003 to 2005. He is the Director Administration and Finance in the President’s Office.

He is also a Lecturer in Business Law, Research Methodology and Strategic Management at Bindura University of Science Education. Machengete was appointed into the board of the Grain Marketing Board on 3 November 2010.[1]

In October 2016 he was appointed the substantive Director General for telecommunications regulator, POTRAZ, replacing Cecilia Nyamutswa who had assumed the role of Acting Director General.[2]



He was a director of the Zimbabwean company Sino-Zimbabwe Development (Pvt) Ltd, and holds 51% of that company’s shares, according to records held at the Zimbabwean company registry.[3]
