<vote /> Spokesperson for Tajamuka/Sesjikile Campaign, Promise Mkwananzi was denied bail when he appeared before a Harare Magistrate today. He was remanded to 12 September.

The Magistrate ruled that Mkwananzi and Kudakwashe Pate were not suitable for bail they're likely to interfere and that it was not in the interest of justice to grand the accused bail.

Mkwananzi was arrested after he had gone to Harare Central for his routine report as per bail conditions granted to him on the 7th June 2016 following the Shutdown organised together with Pastor Evan Mawarire of #ThisFlag Campaign. He was arrested at 7:30AM upon his report at Harare Central. He is facing charges of inciting public violence ahead of the call for Shutdown 3.0 scheduled for 31 August 2016.

Police assert that he connived with members of Tajamuka to burn a police car and a ZBC car notwithstanding the defence on his warned and cautioned statement that he was at a conference hosted by SAPES Trust on the day in question.

Meanwhile police denied Nelson Chamisa and Elias Mudzuri entry into the courtroom. Read more on this story here
