News:Victor Matemadanda Arrested At Douglas Mahiya's Bail Hearing

<vote /> Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Secretary General Victor Matemadanda has been arrested at the bail hearing of Douglas Mahiya at the Rotten Row Magistrates Court in Harare.

Reports in the private media suggested that Matemadanda had been arrested barely 48 hours after the arrest of Mahiya. According to the reports Matemadanda was allegedly picked up from his Gokwe home by members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and taken to Harare Central Police station.

Matemadanda has been arrested for allegedly authoring a communique that denounced Robert Mugabe and announced the withdrawal of the war veterans' support for him as Zanu-PF Presidential candidate. (read the communique here) Reports in the Herald had suggested that Zanu-PF was investigating the origins of the document and Defense Minister Sydney Sekeramai had mentioned what he termed a fifth column in the authoring of the document.
