News:Wicknell Chivayo Seeks to Have Criminal Record Reversed

Controversial business person Wicknell Chivayo is seeking to have his criminal record from 2005 reversed. According to a story in the Herald, Chivayo has, through his lawyers, approached the supreme court and argued that the 2005 conviction was inconveniencing him and that it must be quashed.

In 2005 Chivayo was convicted of money laundering after receiving R837,000 generated from criminal activities. He was sentenced to an effective 3 years in prison which he served. He says though that even though he served the time, the criminal record is coming up time and again in the media and this is inconveniencing him.
