33-year-old Kkhumbulani Sibanda appeared before West Commonage Magistrate Ms Tancy Dube, in Bulawayo, facing charges of attempted infanticide after allegedly throwing his week old baby on the road and stamping on him. The infant miraculously survived, though with internal injuries.
Dube remanded Sibanda in custody to November 28, for judgement after finding Sibanda guilty on his own plea. Magistrate Dube however, is waiting for medical evidence of Sibanda’s sanity before passing judgement.
She said:
I think you have to be examined by at least two doctors to check whether you are mentally stable. What you did is inhumane and unacceptable in our society
