The manager of Masvingo Spar, Emmanuel Mwale, drowned after the car he was driving was swept away at a flooded bridge he was attempting to cross on Sunday. Mwale was trapped in the car and his body was only recovered two days later. Reports indicated he may have been drunk when he attempted to make the crossing in his Nissan X-Trail.
Said Masvingo provincial police spokesperson:
“It is unfortunate that the case we were dealing with ended up in tragedy which claimed the life of Emmanuel Mwale. Drivers should be careful when driving during the rainy season so as to prevent any mishap that may come along the way. It is also important to avoid drinking and driving,”
