ZESA wants Industries to pay up front in forex for imported power

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) wants industrial companies to pay up front for the power being imported.  Zimbabwe is importing electricity from South Africa and Mocambique.  Due to the shortage of foreign currency, the companies will have to pay up front in foreign currency.

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) in a letter to its members last month said:

Zimbabwe is importing a significant amount of its power from South Africa and Mozambique, mainly due to depressed generation from Kariba. There have been challenges in foreign currency payments to support these power imports and ensure continued supply of power.
