Officer in Charge Mbare arrested after soliciting for $60 bribe

Chief Inspector Sigauke, the Officer in Charge of Mbare Police Station, is currently in custody after she was arrested yesterday.  Sigauke was arrested after she demanded $60 in order help a motorist get his vehicle back after it had been impounded at a road block.

Instead of paying, the vehicle owner alerted some police officers, who managed to catch Sigauke red-handed as she received the money.  In an attempt to destroy evidence, Sigauke tried to swallow the money but was unsuccessful.  She also bit one of the arresting officers while resisting arrest. She was taken to Rhodesvile Police Station for questioning.

This comes a few days after Police Commissioner – General Augustine Chihuri blamed parents for raising children who engage in corruption.
