Ngqwele Sibanda (28) from Emanwini suburb in Bulawayo allegedly locked himself in a house and committed suicide following an argument with his girlfriend over a WhatsApp profile picture.
Tenants who shared the same house found Sibanda’s body in an advance state of decomposition, a week after he allegedly killed himself. Sibanda and his girlfriend, only identified as Brie, had a fight after he put a picture of him and another woman as his WhatsApp profile picture. However a postmortem conducted at United Bulawayo Hospitals was inconclusive on the cause of death.
A fellow tenant who spoke to The Chronicle that they smelt a bad smell coming from Sibanda’s room but suspected that it was meat that had gone bad in his fridge. She said that his girlfriend Brie later called saying she was worried about him following their fight after he had threatened to commit suicide. A police report was made after a boy peeped in Sibanda’s room and saw his body on the floor.
