Moto Republik in violation of 1974 by-law, given one week to comply
Creative hub and co-working space Moto Republik has been informed that it is in violation of a 1974 City by-law. They have been given a week to comply with the by-law by removing their creative containers. In the event that they fail to do so the city of Harare will demolish. The said by-law allows only brick and mortar structures and does not allow containers.
Earlier on today, more than 20 council officials had come to tear down Moto Republik, despite the fact that they did not have any paperwork with them. The management at Moto Republik called Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni who showed up[ while the process of tearing down the structure was in progress. The Mayor stopped the process so that he could investigate the whole issue to get a clearer picture.
