21st March 2017FeedbackMoto Republik took the Harare City Council to the High Court on Friday 17th March to stop the unlawful demolition of Harare’s first creative hub. Moto Republik was also asking for payment for damages created by the Council’s demolition attempt. The Council asked for a postponement till 22nd March.
We would like to thank all supporters of the #SaveMotoRepublik campaign who have been behind the huge public outcry against the illegal demolition. We would like to thank all elected representatives who have been accountable to the young people of Zimbabwe. We would like to thank the media for highlighting the injustice of an attempt to destroy such a vital centre for youth empowerment and innovation.
Nonetheless, the struggle continues to save Moto Republik and to keep the containers standing. We urge all our supporters out there to continue to ask our elected representatives, Minister Kasukuwere and Mayor
Manyenyeni, to bring an end to this destructive path. We are committed to finding an amicable solution with the City Council. Together we can find a solution that benefits the young residents of Harare while also contributing to the development of our great city.
