Police officers flee accident scene after high speed chase ends with 4 pupils injured

Four pupils were admitted at Mpilo Central Hospital yesterday after they were injured when the commuter omnibus they were in crashed in a ditch. The omnibus which was carrying 18 school children was being chased by ZRP motorcycle police officers. However, after the accident happened, the police officers allegedly fled the scene of the crime instead of rendering assistance to the injured. The four pupils were later discharged from the hospital after treatment.
A parent who spoke to the Chronicle said:
As a parent I look up to the police to protect our children but in this case I felt really let down. They have a duty to prevent crime but in this incident they assisted in its commission. They could have noted the number plates of the vehicle instead of chasing the kombi from Northend suburb to Sauerstown,
