11 apostolic faith members die in Kamativi accident while travelling to conference

Eleven people who were on their way to a church conference in Hwange died in Kamativi when the driver lost control of the 10-tonne truck they were travelling in. The accident occured at 4 am on Thursday and the people were coming from Siabuwa, Binga. The truck was carrying 130 people who were attending a True Apostolic Mission church conference.

Ten people died on the spot and the eleventh one died at Kamativi clinic. Among the deceased are five females, four males, and two children. It is suspected that the truck’s brakes failed.

ZRP Officer Commanding Hwange District Chief Superintendent Newton Mutumba said:

In fact what is going to be happening is that most of the injured passengers will be brought to Hwange for further treatment, especially those whose condition is very bad. We also want to appeal to motorists that they should desist from driving during odd hours as a way of avoiding police road blocks.
