Govt launches price control, threatens to withdraw shop licences
5 years ago
A statement believed to be from the National Competitiveness Commission Board (NCCB) has threatened to terminate licences for shops that have increased prices.
The statement reads:
Please be advised that the National Competitiveness Commission Board in joint effort with the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe has dispatched a task force to assess and enquire on pricing nationwide. Be advised that all the officers under this programme will be having identification cards issued by the Commission. Shop owners are free to verify if the officers are bona fide before engaging them. Numbers of the officers dispatched are expected to increase as the week goes by, as part of Government’s efforts to cover every part of the country. Retailers who may be found wanting will have their licenses terminated with immediate effect.
FeedbackThis comes after President Robert Mugabe said that his Government will deal with the issue in just two days.
