The police sources said that the investigations stem from Zanu-PF’s Report of the Committee on Party Investments which was debated by the the party’s politburo on July 27 and August 3 2005. The report reveals that companies supervised by Mnangagwa where in shambles due to mismanagement and corruption. Mnangagwa who was Zanu-PF secretary for administration at the time supervised M&S Syndicate Pvt Ltd which had invested on behalf of Zanu-PF in companies such as Treger Holdings, Jongwe Printers, Mike Appel, Catercraft, Fibrolite as well as Zidlee which failed to take over Delta in 1989.
Zanu-PF also had interests in Southern Africa Re-Insurance Company (SARC), Zidco Holdings, First Bank, National Blankets, Woolworths, Ottawa Building, Jongwe and Nyadzonya farms. Mnangagwa also sat in almost all of the company’s boards.
