"There's nothing to say, or do": Mnangagwa reacts to firing

Former Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has seemingly resigned himself to his fate after being fired from the post of Vice President by President Robert Mugabe. Minister of Information Simon Khaya Moyo held a press conference at which he announced that Mnangagwa had been fired.

When asked to comment on the latest development, Mnangagwa’s spokesman, Nharo Gwatidzo, said:

Tadzingwa, hapana chekutaura or chokuita

Mnangagwa seems to have been bested by his rivals, the G40 Faction which is opposed to him succeeding President Robert Mugabe. After months of accusations and counter-accusations from Mnangagwa’s Team Lacoste Faction and the G40 Faction, matters came to a boil when First Lady Grace Mugabe accused Mnangagwa of being a serial plotter, a coward and someone who claims credit for others’ work at a Church Interface Rally on Sunday.

It remains to be seen if Ngwena, as he is affectionately known to his supporters, will fight back by joining the opposition ranks like his predecessor Joice Mujuru did after suffering the same ignominious fate.  Already, the opposition MDC-T has invited Mnangagwa to join them on condition that he repents and becomes a true democrat.
