UZ Reverses Decision To Close After General Chiwenga's Statement, Says Exams To Start Thursday
Less than 24 hours after announcing that end of semester examinations have been deferred to January, the University of Zimbabwe has announced that the examinations will, in fact, start on Thursday. This follows a statement from the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga in which he urged all students to continue with their scheduled studies. The University had made the decision to close down until next year after students demonstrated saying that they were not going to write their examinations until President Robert Mugabe and Vice Chancellor Levi Nyagura resigned.

Consequent to the Statement by the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces yesterday, Monday 20 November 2017 during the 8pm prime news time, all students are being advised that examinations have been rescheduled to commence on Thursday, 23 November 2017 at 9am at the current planned venues.

We are urging all students to observe the directive by the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to be calm and to proceed with their educational programmes as scheduled. Students in residence should continue their stay on campus.
