Harare City out of CAF Confederation Cup
Harare City Football Club has decided not to participate in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup. Despite being relegated from the Premier Soccer League this season, the club was set to represent Zimbabwe in the Confederation Cup after winning the Chibuku Super Cup.
Harare City Secretary General Mathew Marara confirmed the developments to HMetro yesterday and denied rumours that they were trying to buy a franchise in the Premiership. Said Marara:
We are not participating in the CAF Confederation Cup. That is the decision we reached after our meeting as the executive. We are also going ahead to play in division one after relegation and that is where our efforts will be as a club.
FeedbackThe decision taken by the club means that they will lose most of their top players who want to play Premiership football. These include Farai Madhanhanga, Martin Vengesai, Malvern Gaki, Tendai Samanja, Jimmy Tigere, Maxwell Nyamupangedengu, Takudzwa Chimwemwe and William Manondo
