Khupe To Be Expelled From MDC-T If She Misses Meeting
5 years ago
MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe is reported to be facing the axe if she misses the national standing committee (NSC) meeting which will be chaired by the party’s acting president Elias Mudzuri on Wednesday. Khupe is alleged to be showing disdain for the party after she missed the last meeting although she went on to attend parliament. Sources within the party who spoke to NewsDay said:
She has chaired NSC meetings before and we gave her the necessary support, but we have realised that she does not want to support others.
We are going to have another NSC meeting this week and if she fails to attend, but later goes to Parliament, we will cause her ouster.
FeedbackAnother source said:
The problem is that she thinks she is entitled to succeed MT [Tsvangirai] and she wants to hold us to ransom. No, she must know that MDC-T is bigger than an individual.

We are watching her carefully. The more she bunks party meetings, the easier it becomes for us to take action
However, MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu dismissed the issue as hogwash. Said Gutu
I am not going to dignify trash by providing a substantive response.
The MDC-T faces a potentially bruising fight over who will succeed veteran party leader Morgan Tsvangirai who is battling cancer. Tsvangirai’s three deputies Khupe, Mudzuri and Nelson Chamisa are reported to be eying the top post.
