In a statement, the chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Dr Mariyawanda Nzuwah reminded civil servants that Wednesday is a public holiday and warned them that Tuesday is not a half day. Statement reads:
Statutory Instrument Number 143 of 2017 (gazetted on November 24, 2017) provides that: ‘His Excellency, the President, in terms of Section 2 (2) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition Act (Chapter 10:21), hereby makes the following notice:- 1. This notice may be cited as the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Notice, 2017.
2. It is hereby declared that the 21st of February every year henceforth, shall be a public holiday to be known as the Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day. Accordingly, Wednesday 21st February is a Public Holiday with respect to public officers.
