Masvingo Mayor Councillor Hubert Fidze said the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) had expressed interest to build 600 low-cost houses in the city.
He said the houses will be built near the Jairosi Jiri area close to Mucheke Stadium. Work on the project will begin once Masvingo City Council has finished constructing the Mucheke-Rujeko trunk sewer system which is 70% complete. Said Mayor Fidze:
We are pleased to inform our residents and other stakeholders about the ambitious project of 600 housing units that NSSA plans to develop in Masvingo. We have identified land for the massive NSSA housing project that will be undertaken near the Jairosi Jiri area close to Mucheke Stadium. Once we have completed constructing the Mucheke-Rujeko trunk sewer system, work on the project will begin.
