Cyril Ramaphosa Sends Envoy For Talks On How To Assist Zimbabwe: Report Claims
4 years ago
A Newsday report claims that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa last week sent his envoy to Harare last week. A renowned economist, Thabi Leoka reportedly met senior government officials in the ministry of Finance and at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. They held talks centred on how to help Zimbabwe emerge out of the economic quagmire it is in.
The report further claims that
She [Thabi Leoka] flew into the country on Monday and has been meeting officials including those at Finance (ministry) and RBZ. Ramaphosa is ready to help Mnangagwa and really believes Zimbabwe can turn the corner. If Zimbabwe indeed takes off it will ease pressure on South Africa as fewer people will need to go down there seeking opportunities as is the case now.
FeedbackWhen contacted by Newsday on Friday last week Leoka had this to say
I am in Harare, but I will not talk about that.
