Govt Has Reportedly Fired All Doctors Who Boycotted Friday's Disciplinary Hearings

The government has reportedly resolved to fire striking doctors who also boycotted the disciplinary hearings that were slated to start, in that order, at Central hospitals in Harare and Bulawayo.

The Herald reports that none of the 81 doctors showed up but the hearings proceeded. The Health Services Board chairperson, Dr Paulinus Sikosana confirmed to the publication that the hearings went on adding that the outcome was confidential. Dr Sikosana said:

The outcomes of the hearings are confidential hence we will communicate to individuals.

The state-run publication further alleges that it conducted further investigations which revealed that all the doctors who were supposed to go for the hearings today were fired.

The acting secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors’ Association, Dr Tawanda Zvakada told the Herald that some hearings were scheduled for the 7th of November while others did not even receive the disciplinary hearing notices.
