Harare City Council Regains Properties In Mbare 10 Years After Chipangano Seized Them

The Harare City Council is in a major drive to destroy the power of “cartels” that have been depriving the council of much-needed revenue by collecting revenue from its properties and pocketing the proceeds thereof.

The cartels, of which the most infamous is the Mbare-based violent Chipangano outfit, were working in cahoots with some council officials and were active in areas such as such as Mupedzanhamo, Mbare Musika and other markets in Highfield among and several residential areas.

The city council recently took back Carter and Paget houses in Mbare 10 years after it lost them to Chipango. A Herald report claims that the city lost more than $3,6 million in revenue through these treacherous shenanigans.

Harare Town Clerk indicated that the council will continue demolishing illegal structures within the city until sanity is restored.
