The Zhombe community is said to be living in perpetual fear after a sharp rise in incidents of revenge killings.
Recently, the murder of a farmer by illegal settlers in neighbouring Gokwe district has opened a can of worms.
A Gokwe farmer Mr George Jogwe was allegedly killed on Friday by illegal settlers in revenge after he had shot and killed one of the illegal settlers on his plot at Chemagora Estates.
Jongwe was trying to effect an order to evict the settlers granted by the High Court the previous Tuesday.
The killings involving machetes most of the time have risen in recent years as they also involve disputes over mining claims and some are crimes of passion among gold panners.
