A family in Beitbridge discovered a deep mine shaft under their house they built in 2008. They discovered the shaft after the ground their house is on started to give in and an opening formed gradually. When the family investigated, they discovered a deep mine shaft branching into three horizontal shafts.
The local council has told the family that the house was built on top of a disused copper mine. The family has said that the council is not taking any action to solve the matter.
