Zim Woman Says She Avoided Ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines Plane

A Zimbabwean woman, Farirai Munatsirei Chataurwa, who works for the World Food Programme in Mozambique escaped death by a whisker when she rescheduled her flight and avoided the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 that crashed on Sunday morning and killed all 157 people on board, including eight crew members on Sunday morning.

The Boeing 737-Max8, the latest version of the American-built aircraft which crashed shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa at 8:44 am was flying to Nairobi, Kenya.

Writing on Facebook after she learnt of the plane crash, Chataurwa said she said she saw God’s hand. She wrote:

Dear friends and family, today I have seen God’s hand in my life. I was booked on the ET flight that crashed from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. I thank God I changed my flight to the 11 am one. I am alive and safe. Counting my blessings double.

Her middle name, “Munatsirei” is a Shona word which means “Do good for her”. God indeed did well for her by saving her life.
