How Zimbabweans Reacted To Maridadi Appointment

Following President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s appointment of former MDC legislator for Mabvuku-Tafara, James Maridadi as ambassador-designate, varying views have surfaced. Some whispered, shouted whilst some took to social media to express their views. Below are some of sheer volumes comments flooding social media.

One twitter account under the name Cde Jecha Guerrilla said:

MDC should exercise due diligence. Its mind boggling how James Maridadi,Eric Knight,Ezra Sibanda etc rose through the ranks to be MP candidates.

Fly-by night politicians MUST not be entertained in leadership roles.

Why did they kick out James Maridadi in first place he was doing far much better than most mdc MPS. Mamudzinga munoda kuti arambe akagara yet Chamisa was and still in business with Mugabe but you ignore it munopenga

So @james_maridadi as MDC we do not recognize this whole Presidium; have you considered all this before accepting this role as ambassador? Where is your allegiance then? please do not hide with us the Citizens. Patriotism your foot but self-interest first? We will see how it ends.

Cde Never Maswerasei sounded intrigued. The handle @CdeNMaswerasei posted:

Dear Zimbabwe: The appointment of James Maridadi to being an ambassador is a demonstration of the effectiveness of NON-CONFRONTATIONAL politics. I am yet2come across an opposition leader whose Parly debates were as EFFECTIVE & DOWN TO EARTH as James. It’s NOT about making noise.

Some demanded answers from the MDC authorities. An twitter handle which goes by the name Muyera Chirandu @bsamadonhora posted:

President @nelsonchamisa what is your take on this appointment!!! was @james_maridadi sanctioned or allowed by the party to accept this appointment??

@Admryr was quick to respond. The handle’s post read:

The service to Zim and it’s people should come first patriotism over “partyotism”, these diplomats serve us all regardless of party affiliations.

Some comments question the appointment. They argue that ZANU PF has many members so why Maridadi of all the people. Some have alleged that Maridadi is a ZANU PF agent, some claiming that the appointment was well deserved.
