Nottingham Forest Anxious Tendayi Darikwa Will Miss Pre-season
4 years ago
Nottingham Forest is concerned that Warriors 27-year-old right back Tendayi Darikwa will miss a huge chunk of the club’s pre-season as he will be playing for Zimbabwe at the African Cup of Nations.
Forest is worried that if the Warriors reach the final at AFCON, Darikwa will need an extended break before he can play for his England-based club.
However, Darikwa has decided to put the AFCON campaign at the back of his mind as he seeks to push for promotion to the English top flight with his Championship club. Said Darikwa:
It is a competitive league and I wish we were higher in the table – but we still have a chance and we have to take that belief into these games.
It is on the road where we have been dropping points and hopefully, we can get back-to-back wins when we go to Rotherham.

The Seat Pitch summarises Nottingham Forest’s hope that it will turn out well for Darikwa:
There’s no doubt that the rampaging full-back has been a key player for the Reds this season. His improvement over the course of the campaign has been remarkable.
Martin O’Neill will be hoping that he can continue to make such an impact for his side in the remainder of the campaign. But he’ll also be hoping he returns to pre-season as soon as possible, without any injuries to show for his international exploits.
