'Kirsty Coventry Is Out Of Her Depth' - Mliswa

Former Dynamos Football Club fitness trainer and current MP for Norton, Temba Mliswa (Independent), says Minister of Sports, Kirsty Coventry has proved that she is out her depth when it comes to dealing with problems bedevilling sports in Zimbabwe. Writing on social media, Mliswa said:

Sports Minister @KirstyCoventry is increasingly revealing her being out of depth as Sports Minister by how she is and has dealt with problems in rugby, soccer and cricket. Being a super athlete is no signal of being a great administrator.

I have in-depth knowledge of the rugby community in Zimbabwe having previously worked in the sector with individuals such as a Brendan Dawson, Kennedy Tsimba, Tonderai Chivhanga etc. The rot that has set in can provisionally be dealt with by first having a forensic audit done.

They were individuals like Dave Morgan whose passion for the sport you could never doubt. Now Kirsty is using her position simply as a status issue. She doesn’t want to dirty herself fighting the ills in the sporting sector but you don’t make any headway like that.

This country has some devoted sports loving people such as Gerald Mlotshwa and @maguranyanga who have supported the rugby fraternity extensively its painful watching someone destroying the sector by acting naively and weakly.

Even the youth side @KirstyCoventry you haven’t really stood up. You cannot exist above the rot but have to come down and deal with it. In most of these sporting sectors, the medicine is an audit in soccer, cricket and rugby.
