1. It’s over 5 weeks before the MDC Alliance Congress, Why is the MDC alliance holding provincial elections now?

Answer: Provincial elections are conducted every 5 years, in preparation of the Congress.

 

2. What is the procedure that is supposed to be followed before going to Congress?

Answer: District elections are held in each province, those elected at district level are nominated for Provincial posts, and compete with other districts for provincial executive posts. Those elected at district and provincial elections are the once who are allowed to vote during the final congress.

3. How does the voting that’s currently underway affect party structures?

Answer: Current elected leaders will be retained or replaced by new people after the elections

4. Why do you have provinces like North America in your structures?

Answer: MDC Alliance has provinces that don’t conform to physical provinces of Zimbabwe.  EG North America, UK, and Ireland plus those in Zimbabwe. So this year the 13 provinces send elected delegates to vote for the President etc at Congress

5. How will elections at the congress be conducted?

Answer: Elected officials from provinces vote for those nominated by provinces to be in the executive team.

6. Who will be conducting the elections on behalf of the party?

Answer: Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions.
