JUST IN: Gvt To Resolve Grievances By Chipinge & Chimanimani Chiefs

President Mnangagwa has revealed that the government will quickly resolve concerns and grievances raised by 13 chiefs in Chipinge and Chimanimani whose communities were ravaged by Cyclone Idai.

President Mnangagwa said that the need to address the needs of the people following cyclone Idai made the government to ‘jump’ traditional leaders. Mnangagwa said:

We have asked for forgiveness and we have been forgiven. Our chiefs have registered a lot of grievances which we will act on in order to bring about rural industrialisation to the two districts.

It is alleged that president Mnangagwa met the traditional leaders to persuade them on the intended eviction of residents following cyclone Idai. Reports suggest that residents are refusing to leave their traditional lands arguing that their ancestors are buried in the area. It is also believed that they are citing their farming lands as a major hindrance to the eviction.
