Govt Lifts Ban On Use Of Arrow On Hunting Buffalo

Tinashe Farawo, the authority’s spokesperson specified that only the heavy duty bows and arrows are permitted. He said:
These type of bow and arrows kill instantly.
The new arrangement means that buffalo hunters would have to use modern arrow-heads of at least 30mm cutting length, present their equipment for inspection and be accompanied by trained guides.
However, a wildlife expert who volunteers in Zimbabwe’s vast Hwange National Park believes the development is problematic. The expert said:
This is a dreadful development. We don’t have much expertise here to know if the equipment is OK.
The government has maintained that only guns can be used on other animals with a firm hide including the hippo and elephant.
There was fury in 2015 after an American shot and wounded Cecil the lion with an inaccurate arrow during an illegal hunt.
