Police Release The Names Of Featherstone Kombi Crash Victims

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of 14 out 19 people who perished in a road accident along the Harare-Masvingo highway following a head-on collision.

The accident occurred on June 28 at the Wengezi Bridge near Featherstone when a haulage truck collided head-on with an Iveco commuter omnibus.

Police spokesperson assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi on Monday revealed the victims’ names as follows:

Paidamoyo Dick, Nokutenda Nhau and Charity Chinhende who are all from Chivhu.

Other victims included Michael Zambuke whose address is not known, Charity Chidende, Jesca Njanike, Gore Mujere, Sign Muteiwa, Francisca Madzamba, Munyaradzi Mrwira, Webster Mutuimwe, Tinotenda Dudzai, Patrick Chingwende from Buhera and Vanisa Kambarami and Comfort Chirume who were both infants aged two months.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi added:

The other five bodies — an infant, two males and a female aged approximately 50 are yet to be identified.

The ZRP appeals to members of the public who are missing their relatives to visit Chivhu General Hospital Mortuary.
