FULL THREAD: Sanctions About US Interests Not Human Rights -TREVOR NCUBE

The Executive Chairman of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), Trevor Ncube, has said that sanctions on Zimbabwe were not motivated by human rights abuses but by interests of countries imposing them. Ncube made reference to a number of countries which are known for violating human rights who still got assistance from the same countries and financial institutions that imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe citing human rights abuses. See full thread below.

Who said life is fair?

Pakistan got IMF $6 billion loan to rescitate ailing economy

Egypt received $12 billion IMF loan for economic reforms

Zimbabwe is expected to implement IMF (SMP) with ZERO budget support

This is about US interests not human rights. Period!!

Who said life is fair?
In 2013 , over 800 civilians, women and children, were killed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
His government still received IMF $12 billion bailout.
US sanctions aid US interests not human rights.
If you think the US has imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe because they love you so much, then think again. If US cared about human rights they would not have handed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi $12 billion after he killed over 800 protestors. #NoToSanctions
Ncube’s remarks reverberate those of the ruling ZANU PF and recently, the Southen African Development Committee (SADC) who have been calling for the removal of the “illegal” sanctions.
Western countries imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe on the turn of the millennium citing “massive” human rights abuses.
The sanctions followed the fast track land reform programme that started in 1999 which displaced white farmers.
Former President Robert Mugabe endorsed the invasions after the UK refused to avail compensation for farmers as provided for by the Lancaster House Agreement.
Western powers, however, maintain that sanctions remain targeted on individuals.
