Former NetOne CEO, Reward Kangai, Being Investigated By ZACC

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the former CEO of NetOne Reward Kangai for possible abuse of office. The allegations stem from a forensic audit conducted in 2016 by the Auditor General.

The Standard says a source told it:

The findings in that audit report cannot be ignored. Investigators are now perusing and scrutinising the document with the aim of bringing Kangai to book if he is found to have violated the law.

Kangai was suspended from NetOne in March 2016 following allegations of corruption at the company. He was later fired in October 2016. He was eventually arrested in January 2018 but was released on bail the same month.

Kangai has persistently argued that it is actually the former minister of ICT, Supa Mandiwanzira who was corrupt. Mandiwanzira was behind Kangai’s dismissal from NetOne. Kangai argues he was dismissed in an attempt by Mandiwanzira to cover his own corruption.

Manduwanzira is also separately facing corruption allegations. NetOne is a government-owned telecoms company.
