In Future, Government Has To Censor Officials Like Mutodi - Daily News Live

The Daily News Live has bemoaned the insensitivity and arrogance of Government officials. This is coming at a time when Deputy Minister Mutodi and Ziyambi Ziyambi came under fire for lightly addressing abduction and assault issues in some instances insulting victims.

Energy Mutodi commending on a Gweru incident that left one MDC member brutally assaulted passed remarks to the tune of Govt not being able to protect prostitutes and drunkards. Mutodi also made sinister remarks over Gonyeti’s abduction saying they won’t be fooled Gonyeti did skits about an abduction and on police accommodation.   Ziyambi Ziyambi also said people who were abducted were mere attention seekers.

Airing their views about such crude comments coming from Government officials The Daily News Live wrote:

Government officials should desist from spewing despicable remarks, especially when they comment on sensitive issues like the recent abductions and torture of human rights activists, opposition politicians and social commentators as well as trade unionists.

As the country boils under a declining economy, government officials must not slam citizens whose rights are being trampled with impunity. Instead, the officials should be sensitive to the people, bearing in mind that Zimbabweans are angry, hungry and troubled with the difficult life they are living.

The reckless comments on the abductions and torture by government officials are not coherent as others outrightly dismiss such claims while others are eager to investigate and find the real truth. In future, government has to censor officials like Mutodi whose comments have caused widespread condemnation and outrage on social media.
