Notorious Woman Masquerading As Nurse Training Agent Rearrested
Police have rearrested Patricia Magazini, a woman from Masvingo who has, together with five other members of her syndicate have been defrauding members of the public seeking nurse trainee placements.
The State told the court that Magazini was initially arrested in 2017 after she and her colleagues put a bogus advert in the media urging those who wanted nurse trainee placements to apply.
It was further alleged that the gang went on to publish the names of purported successful candidates who would then be asked to pay bribes ranging between RTGS$800 and $1 200 to facilitate “hustle-free enrolments.”
They were arrested but were released on bail. The State further alleges that the gang went on to commit the same offence in Gweru whilst they were still on bail.
They were again arrested, denied bail but they made a successful High Court application and were released on bail pending trial.
The gang is said to have later escaped and went to Mt Darwin, Chipinge and Marondera, where they defrauded more job-seekers.
Magazini was finally arrested last week in Marondera after the police received a tip-off from locals.
