A bid to own a home in the city has landed some home seekers in the hands of greedy fraudsters who are now selling them abandoned and undeveloped properties claiming they won the properties, the Chronicle reports.
This was revealed by BCC senior public relations officer Mrs Nesisa Mpofu who corresponded with the publication and said:
Some conmen are pouncing on unsuspecting members of the public as they fall victim to sales of properties belonging to absent landlords. In the end transfer of the same hits snags. The aim is to also collect outstanding rates while they still have value.
Bulawayo City Council has also been having problems with these abandoned properties and has already issued a 30 Day notice to their owners to come forward or risk losing their properties.
