Govt To Spend ZW$1 Billion In Rehabilitating 100KM Of The Harare Chirundu Highway

The government is going to spend $1 Billion in rehabilitating 100 KMs of the Harare – Chirundu Highway Zim Morning Post reports.

The 5 companies that were contracted by the government have all charged different amounts with most of the charges just above $300 million each for the 20 KM stretch they will work on individually.

According to Zim Morning Post:

Documents at hand show that for a 20km-stretch, Tensor Systems charged ZW$353 518,751 30, Fossil ZW$315 875 667.57, Masimba ZW$248 844 929.22, Bitumen ZW$354 389 144.94 and Exodus & Company ZW$317 119 256.06 – all prices are less 22 percent.

The Harare Chirundu Highway is part of the Beitbridge Chirundu Highway that links South Africa and Zambia and probably the busiest highway in Zimbabwe. the Beitbridge Chirundu Highway has been under refurbishment for some months now.
