Soldier Opens Fire On Wife, Mother-in-law

A Zimbabwe National Army officer ran amok and shot his wife to death and injured his mother-in-law before killing himself a kilometre away from the scene on Monday.

Aaron Taurai Mlambo reportedly visited his 25-year-old wife Evelyn Madawo at her mother Nomari Madawo’s place around midnight armed with an AK47 rifle where he shot the two. Speaking to H-Metro, Family spokesperson Pedzisai Kaguru said:

He came armed with a gun wrapped in a military sleeping bag and jumped over the precast wall before knocking the door.

Upon seeing the maid he asked for Evelyn and when the maid opened the bedroom he followed her and shot Evelyn twice on her forehead. Another shot injured his mother-in-law.

Evelyn’s brother escaped by hiding under the bed for cover.

Mlambo and his wife had separated a month ago and her family had been pleading with him to come and solve the differences between the two.

The two had several episodes of domestic violence in the past and Mlambo had threatened to kill Evelyn on Sunday at his workplace.
