UPDATE: "Joram Gumbo Was Never Arrested"

Mr Selby Hwacha, the lawyer representing the former Minister of Transport, Joram Gumbo has refuted claims that his client was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission over corruption allegations.
Hwacha says his client was merely questioned and asked to record warned and cautioned statements.
The Minister of State in the President’s Office is accused of having shown favour to his relative, Mavis Gumbo by awarding her a contract to rent out her house in Harare’s Chishawasha Hills suburb for use as the Zimbabwe Airways headquarters.
He is also accused of disregarding Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe board’s decision to fire its General Manager, Mr David Chawota who had awarded an air traffic control equipment contract to a company called Indreastemas and Homt Espana without following laid down procedure.
Gumbo was also questioned on his involvement with the reinstatement of CMED Chief Executive, Mr Davison Mhaka, who was found guilty of misconduct by a disciplinary committee after he allegedly authorised payment of US$2,7 million for fuel which was never delivered.
