Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is now fit enough to be able to fly back home, though he is not yet fully recovered, The Independent reports.
He will return to Zimbabwe either at the end of November or at the beginning of December. An official resident in Beijing, where VP Chiwenga is being treated, told The Independent that the former military general has significantly regained weight. Said the official:
He is now in very good shape. Remember, when he was airlifted to China he was in a terrible state and was severely emancipated. He was weighing 55 kilogrammes and could not eat, but he is now weighing about 90kgs.
The official added that Chiwenga has made amazing progress and is now able to eat on his own, and can even eat meat.
Chiwenga reportedly underwent two delicate operations to clear part of his oesophagus which was blocked, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirming that the indisposed VP has successful surgery in September.
