The 2019/2020 farming season is under threat after farmers have been hit by high input costs and erratic rains that were experienced in the past few days countrywide, the Herald reports
The Agriculture Deputy Minister Vangelis Haritatos said the government was trying, by all means, to help farmers acquire inputs:
The farmers are being supported by availing inputs and services at affordable prices, plus low interest rates to loans advanced by financiers of the programme and there is no need for collateral on the part of the farmers. We are also targeting to assist productive farmers, farmers with irrigation and in high potential areas.
Zimbabwe experienced a drought in 2019 that left half the country in need of food aid.
