"A 2017 Cabinet-Sanctioned Police Investigation On Machete Gangs Implicated ED And Other ZANU PF Bigwigs," - Jonathan Moyo

Exiled former Zimbabwean Cabinet Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has claimed that a 2017 investigation on Machete gangs implicated now President Emmerson Mnangagwa and some of his Midlands allies.

His remarks come at a time when the machete gangs, known as Mashurugwi and or Al Shabab have for years now been terrorising miners and members of the public with impunity.

Some analysts have said that the gangs have strong connections with prominent people in the country hence impunity adding that the police and the army certainly have the capacity to contain them but are just not being authorised to do so.

Moyo posted on Twitter and said:

In 2017 VP Mphoko showed Cabinet gruesome images of victims of machete gold-gangs in Kwekwe. Cabinet tasked Chombo to get the Police to investigate. Mnangagwa, July Moyo & Owen Mudha Ncube were implicated.

He also added a link to Google Drive where a file #KwekweGoldMassacrees which has pictures of some of the victims of the gangs is located. They are gruesome images.

Another exiled ex-Cabinet Minister, Walter Mzembi who recently formed his own party concurred with Moyo adding that there are other issues which implicated “Lacoste” faction which is believed to be headed by Mnangagwa. He said:

There are numerous gruesome events, reports , resolutions surrounding this Lacoste faction that have either been covered , cleansed or buried with and by the Nov 2017 coup . We shall hold Cabinet Secretariat accountable in the future.
