A Recent Gold Rush In Bubi Invites Unwanted MaShurugwi To The Area, Threatens Mining Activities In Inyathi

The infamous MaShurugwi have invaded Bubi District’s Inyathi area following a recent gold rush, The Chronicle reports.

The machete-wielding gangs have threatened artisanal miners’ operations in the area and some have scaled-down production due to the advent of the infamous MaShurugwi.

Small scale miners that spoke to the publication said:

Right now, there is no accountability of the illegal artisanal miners’ actions, they have invaded our mines disrupting our operations by looting our mineral ore and vandalising mine infrastructure.

Knowing how violent they are, we watch them helplessly; we can’t do anything because we fear for our lives.

Even the gold ore that we are working on, they come and steal it. Just recently, they broke into our carbon room and got away with the carbon and all the gold that was awaiting processing.

MaShurugwi have headlined for various atrocities including killing a police officer and robbing people across the country.
