Rotting vegetables have become the norm. amid a dire economic situation and a possible drought in Zimbabwe’s cities according to Inter Press Service.

Vegetables are rotting because uptake is low as people struggle to make ends meet according to the publication. Vendors that spoke to the publication explained why the vegetables were rotting and said:

We cannot give away the vegetables just because we fear they will rot, Even if we lower prices, people just do not have money that is why you see a lot of vegetables rotting like this.

Ironically, 8 Million Zimbabweans are in need of food aid as the country became food insecure due to erratic rains experienced in 2019.
