A Police officer while on duty accidentally shot and killed his colleague yesterday, Zimlive reports. The matter came to light after the publication saw an internal ZRP memo communicating the tragic death of Detective Constable Taambutseni who was shot in the pelvis and died of his injuries at Chivhu hospital.
According to the publication, Constable Taambutseni and 8 others were tailing a suspect wanted for stealing cars in Kadoma and Bulawayo and they watched as the suspect identified as Mussa Denge drive into a house and the officers jumped from their vehicles to pursue him.
Detective Sergeant Masanzu Zisengwe armed with a rifle was firing warning shots and Detective Taambutseni was the first to get to the suspect, but when he was about to grab the suspect he was shot by Zisengwe and he later died at Chuvhu hospital.
