Tsenengamu Calls On ZANU PF, MDC To Unite Against Cartels

Suspended former ZANU PF national political commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu said Zimbabweans should bury their political differences and form a united front against corruption and cartels.

Tsenengamu told NewsDay that his call for national dialogue was misinterpreted as he is not seeking for a Government of National Unity (GNU) but for unity of purpose across the political divide to combat high-level graft. He said:

My view is that after launching the fight against corruption and cartels, l have noticed that people are divided along partisan lines and continue to view things from a partisan point of view.

Corruption is a national problem and must be fought by everyone, but that can’t be achieved in a highly polarised society like ours. We don’t have a shared common vision. We have no unity of purpose.

He added that fighting corruption in a polarised environment where you are either ZANU PF or MDC will not achieve much.

Tsenengamu’s “anti-corruption crusade” got himself in trouble with the ruling party as he was suspended from his powerful position in the youth league soon after he accused ZANU PF benefactors of corruption.
