ED Intervenes To Stop Eviction Of Residents By Billy Rautenbach - Mliswa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly intervened to stop the eviction of residents from Joshua Nkomo Housing Cooperative.

The development was revealed by Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa who has been fighting in the residents’ corner against local businessman Billy Rautenbach, also known as Muller Conrad Rautenbach.

Posting on Twitter, Mliswa said:

Good news for Joshua Nkomo Housing Cooperative members as @edmnangagwa has reassured them that they will not be evicted from their stands. What’s left is for the Ministry of Local Gvt to process the necessary paperwork to regulate& legalise the position. God has his time indeed.

As a matter of record, I’m not part of the initiative to collect money to pay lawyers. Have urged the people to transparently engage a lawyer and will only assist them to engage the relevant offices because that is what is needed.

Recently, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, in his capacity as the Acting President, told the residents that Rautenbach would be refunded his money if he had proof that he bought the land as he claimed.

Some residents earlier told Mliswa that Rautenbach was demanding, among other things, US$85 per square metre, 2% tax and 15% VAT from every resident or they get evicted.
